Bettie was born May 19, 1940 in Louisville to the lates’ Charles A. Casey, Sr. and Jenetta Phillips Casey.
Bettie was a 1958 graduate of Dupont Manual High School. Bettie loved speaking with her mates even after graduation, keeping in touch through reunions. Bettie was retired from Central State Hospital after over 35 years of service, working in the canteen and dietary departments. She loved the holidays! Bettie was known at Central State as one who loved to decorate. She was known for her costumes and her décor, often decorating her office and home to match with the holiday theme. Bettie loved bingo, playing every Saturday, when she could. Bettie loved Elvis. She collected Elvis memorabilia for years. She also loved Kentucky Derby Week. She loved Facebook, often scrolling daily to keep up with those she loved. Bettie attended the Eastern Parkway Baptist Church.
Bettie is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Dottie Johnson, Edith Edlin and Judy King; one brother, Charles (Junior) Casey; and one grand-daughter, Kris Davidson.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tammy (Wayne) Simmons, Todd (Kim) Stevenson, Windy (Eddie) Harper and Cindy Stevenson; her grandchildren who will fondly remember their Granny, Brandon (Lindsay) Simmons, Courtnee (Ben) Hodges, Trista (Chad) Stevenson, Eric ( Amanda) Simmons; and great – grandchildren, Scarlett Simmons, Maddy Hodges, Abby Hodges, Jett Lewis, Jace Lewis, Tate Lewis, Mina Lewis, Hana Lewis, Hayden Barthelmess, Dexten Simmons and Ellawyn Simmons. Bettie is also survived by several nieces and nephews and host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Dignity Chapel. Visitation will be held also on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
