

Betty Duncan Cunningham, 99, of Louisville, Ky, passed away on July 11, 2025. She was the former Betty Jane Duncan and native of LaGrange, Ky. She was a graduate of Louisville Girls High and Christian College in Columbia, Missouri.
She lived in Asheville, NC for 27 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ where she served as Director of Christian Education, a Sunday school teacher, a Deaconess, a member of the missions program, and a volunteer for Head Start.
Betty had resided in Louisville since 1977 and was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church. She served 14 years as a preschool teacher, was active in WMU, a member of the Bereavement Committee, Monday Bible Study, and HUGG Ministry. Betty was a volunteer tutor at Ahrens Adult Learning Center. She was working for the U. S. Insurance Group when she retired.
She is preceded is death by her son, Fenton Sims Cunningham III, and her sister, Margaret Ann Ricketts. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter-in-law, Mary Cunningham and cousins Nancy Beckner and Melissa Laws, as well as extended family and friends. A special thank you to the friends and staff at Twinbrook Assisted Living where she found love, comfort, and happiness. Thanks, too, to the special staff at Jefferson Place and to the wonderful Hosparus staff who helped her at the end of her life.
There will be a committal service at Cave Hill Scattering Garden on Thursday July 31, 2025 at 11am.
