Bill proudly served his country in the West Virginia Army National Guard for nine years, earning the rank of Sergeant First Class. He went on to retire from the Norfolk Southern Railroad after 43 years of dedicated service.
He was a man who loved life and the people in it. He especially loved talking about his grandson, who was his pride and joy. Bill had a soft spot for animals and was known for taking in stray cats and dogs, feeding neighborhood raccoons and even befriending squirrels that would come to his door for peanuts.
He enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including kayaking, flying and working on remote control planes and cars, model trains, and woodworking.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Ireson Sr. and Mary (Pert) Davis Ireson of Williamson, West Virginia, and his wife, Deborah L. (Debbie) Smith Ireson.
He is survived by his two sons, Bill (Betsy) Ireson of Williamson, West Virginia, and Tracy (Kendra) Ireson of Hebron, Kentucky; his cherished grandson, Gideon Ireson of West Point, New York; his sister, Lyndia (Benny) Bryant of Williamson, West Virginia; his niece, Ashley Bryant of Williamson, West Virginia, and a host of special friends and family.
Bill Ireson lived a full life, loved his family deeply and left his mark in quiet, meaningful ways that will not be forgotten.
There will be no service at this time.
