Billy Ray Gnagie

Billy was born on December 3, 1955 in Louisville, Kentucky, to John and Janett Prather Gnagie.

Billy was known for his love of laughing, fishing, and having a good time. He especially loved being around family and friends and having a good time. He enjoyed taking the boat out on the lake. He loved to tell jokes. One of his favorite modes of delivery was to tell them in first person, leaving the listener to believe the story actually happened until he revealed the punchline.

Billy is survived by his wife, Diana Lynn Gnagie, and his two sons Terry and his wife Stacy Gnagie, and Billy Ray Gnagie Jr. He acted as Custodial Guardian to William Joseph Ellis Jr., his brother-in-law, and Christine Ellis, his sister-in-law. He had 3 grandchildren: Tyler Gnagie, Tiana Gnagie, and Rebekka and her husband Kendall Boston. He is survived by two great-grandchildren Olivia and Sawyer Boston. He is also survived by his grandpuppy Ares, two house cats, Panda and Mutt, and numerous feral cats. His brothers include Johnny and wife Joan Gnagie, Jerry Gnagie, and Mike and wife Kris Gnagie. His sisters include Betty McMahon and Gloria and her husband Jon Scott. He had numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Violet Hogan.

Funeral and visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 11 am- 2 pm. Services will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven located at 4400 Bardstown Road.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity, Alley Cats, of which Billy was a donor.
