Brandon Funk

Brandon MacKay Funk, age 30, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Brandon was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 5, 1994 to his loving parents, Kara (Martin) Rutter and Billy E. Funk, Jr.

Brandon will always be remembered for his loving heart and competitive nature. Growing up, Brandon always enjoyed playing baseball. Brandon and his son shared some of the best memories. In his sons Bryson’s words “he loved seeing me, family night, watching baseball and golf. Also, his shoes and his dog, “Duke.” Brandon had recently relocated to be closer to his family, with plans to take over his Mom’s family business, “Nolin Lake Peace of Mind”, and was working side by side with his mother every day. Brandon was also a graduate from MMI in Orlando, Fl. He enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles and selling them.

Brandon is preceded in death by his daughter, Naomi Ava Funk; uncle, Craig Martin; grandparents, Billy E Funk, Sr., Rick Kitchen and Norman Rutter; great- grandparents, William and Dorothy Davis, Wynona H & William C Martin, Bertha & Tom Ulrich, and Joyce & Melvin Meredith.

Brandon is survived by his son, Bryson MacKay Funk and his little brother, Peyton Thomas Rutter; mother, Kara Rutter (Mike); father, Billy E. Funk, Jr.; brothers, Morgan Overstreet (Chelsea), Chris Rutter (Sara);sister, Kaitlyn Rutter ( Jeff); grandparents, Shirley “Nana” Glover, Michael and Dana Martin, JoAnne Kitchen, Leo Coakley and JoAnn Rutter; niece, Sienna Grace Overstreet; nephew, Cole Thomas Merideth; aunt, Lea George (Jake) and Carl Rutter (Lisa); great-uncle, Joey Ulrich; and a host of great-uncles and great-aunts, aunts and uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 in the chapel at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery at 12 pm with interment to follow at Bethany Cemetery, 10917 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 1 pm until 8 pm and Saturday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
