Cassandra R. Powell was born to the late ZeZell B. Groomes and William N. Ruffin on June 2, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the oldest child born in this union. Chris/Crissy or Sandra as many called her, departed this life on Sunday afternoon, October 17, 2021.
Chris was educated in the Philadelphia school system until moving to Louisville, KY and graduating from Louisville Male High School. She later received a degree in Culinary Arts & Hospitality from Sullivan University.
Chris’s passion was cooking and everyone loved her cooking. She hosted many dinner gatherings to share her love of cooking.
Chris is survived by her 2 son, Kevin N. Ruffin and D’Juan L. Powell; 1 daughter, Danielle N. Ruffin; her sisters, Dr. Vanessa Ruffin and Yvette R. Bradley; 12 grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren; her favorite aunt, Mattie H. Daniels of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of family and friends to cherish her memory.
A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11am.
