

Catherine was born in Jackson, TN, daughter of the late Virgil and Jewel (Patterson) Cooper. As a young adult Catherine worked as a buyer for a major department store in Memphis, TN. After the birth of her two children, Catherine focused on raising her family.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and dear friend. She will truly be missed by everyone. Catherine will be fondly remembered as a woman who was always thoughtful and put family first. She was very caring and giving to all who knew her. Catherine spent over thirty years giving her time and energy as an active member of the Okolona Women’s Club. She had a particular fondness for volunteering to work on programs supporting elementary school children. At home she created warm and joyful holiday celebrations. She leaves a legacy of beautiful memories that will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Catherine enjoyed collecting cookbooks from which she prepared delicious family meals. She enjoyed travel and had especially fond memories of her time in Hawaii, California, Seattle, Florida, and the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
Catherine is survived by her children; Gerald Winters Jr. and his wife Jacqueline Coleman of Annapolis, MD, and Joanette Fridley of Louisville, KY and her children with Sam Greenaway, Cristin Marie Greenaway and Corey Greenaway, and; her great-grandchildren, Devin Tucker, Aubrey Greenaway.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband Gerald Winters Sr.; her son-in-law Larry Fridley; and her siblings William Cooper, Delores Sutton, James Cooper, Barbara McDougall.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, 11am-2pm, with a brief ceremony at 2pm, at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hosparus Health, 6200 Dutchmans Lane, Louisville, KY 40205.
