Charles Melvin “Charlie” Harper, 94, of Louisville passed away on Tuesday January 18, 2022. He was born on July 23, 1927 in Louisville to the late Ronald and Leona (Melcher) Harper. Charlie was a retired steel worker, a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, and an Army veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Harper; and a son, Clinton Harper; siblings, Bill, Charlene, Vesta Lee, Juanita, Geraldine, Imelva Jean, and Lawrence. Left to cherish his memory are his niece and caregiver, Cathy Hunt; and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral mass of celebration for Charlie will be held at 9:30 am Monday January 31, 2022 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 So. 6th St. Interment with military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery following the mass. Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Memorial gifts in Charlie’s honor may be made to his church.
