

Charles Wiley Sample (AKA Bobo), age 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, born November 27, 1939, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at University of Louisville Hospital.
Charlie was a graduate of Valley High School Class of 1957. He also joined the Army National Guard, where he served 6 years, For over 30 years he worked as a Union machinist with Brown and Williamson. He was a master carpenter who took great pride in his craft. Charlie was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman, softball player and beloved mentor to his family.
He could be found in his garage working on a new project and always willing to share funny stories with his loved ones. He is known as Pa, Bobo or Daddy to his family and friends. He was willing to lend a hand whenever needed. If there was a tool you needed for any project, you could find it in his garage. He made a huge impact on everyone's lives, words cannot describe how much he will be missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Sr (Jack) and Ellen Sample, brothers, Donnie, Gary and Doug.
Survivors include his wife of sixty six years, Ada Haney Sample; daughters, Debbie (David) Carey, Lisa and Donna; 7 grandchildren, Davy (Emily), Kayla (Ray), Hanna (Jacob), Tyler, Jake (Olivia), Brent (Kristen) and Connor; 9 great grandchildren, Jackson (Maddie), Colton (Rachel), Marley, Drake, Brady, Xavier, Chloe and Ada; 3 brothers, Ritchie (Rose), Jackie (Inga) and Larry (Judy).
A visitation for Charles will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway. A funeral will occur Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with visitation from 10 until time of the funeral, burial will follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
