

Born on April 19,1937 in Louisville, Kentucky to the lates’ Edward Woodrow Saunders and Emma Louise Vogel Saunders.
Charley started his career in the Retail Grocery Business as a bagboy at the Winn-Dixie on Frankfort Avenue. He worked his way up to the Produce Manager at the Valley Station location and ended his career with Winn-Dixie as the Manager of the Frankfort Avenue location. He then worked at the Key Market as Manager of the store located near Thomas Jefferson High School. He ended his career in Retail Grocery as the Manager of the Shipping and Receiving department at Sam’s Club. He was a former Deacon at Clifton Christian Church. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, bowling, playing Rook and Pinochle, fishing, camping, boating and hunting for rabbit and squirrel.
Charley was preceded in death by parents; his second wife, Norma Toole Saunders; his brothers, Tommy and Mike; and his son, Jeff Saunders.
Left to cherish Charley's memory are his three sons, Russell Saunders (San Antonio, TX), John Saunders (Cincinnati, OH), and Doug Saunders (Cincinnati, OH); his grandchildren, Devin Saunders, Hannah Saunders, Andrea Saunders, Cory Saunders, William Saunders, Kellie Saunders, and Edward Saunders; great grandchildren, Lela Saunders, Ezekiel Saunders, Tobias Saunders, Caleb Krentz and Madison Chrisman; his brother, Jimmy Saunders (Marty); daughter-in-law, Mimi Saunders; many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation for Charley will be Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 1:00pm until 7:00pm at Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home – Okolona Chapel, 8519 Preston Hwy, 40219. The Funeral Service will be Monday, August 4, 2025 at 12:30pm at the funeral home with interment immediately following in Resthaven Memorial Park.
