

Clyde worked at Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, and went on to retired from General Electric. He was a member of the Falls of the Rough Baptist Church.
Mr. Mercer was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Bernetha Ward Mercer; parents, Amos and Maymie Mercer; a baby brother, Guy Mercer; sisters, Delois "Tootsie" Decker, Christine Wash and Imogene Saltsman.
He is survived by three children, Judy Williamson (Mike), Kenneth Mercer ( Gail), and Ron Mercer (Connie); five grandchildren; Danyel Haydon, Dustin Converse, Felicia Coleman, Hannah Buller and Jaclyn Harbin; 11 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Mercer; three sisters, Margaret Lasley, Linda Williams, and Shirley Jean Logsdon.
A visitation for Clyde will be held Monday, August 25, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway.
Funeral Services will occur Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service.
