

Cordelia Vin Begay, 50, of Louisville, KY passed away August 12, 2017. Cordelia was proud of her Navajo descent. She was born to the White People Clan and born into the Red Bottom People Clan. Her Maternal Grandparents were of the White People Clan and her Paternal Grandparents were of the Big Water Clan.
Cordelia graduated from Winslow High School in Winslow, AZ in 1985. She also was a graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. After graduation, Cordelia continued to be a supportive alumni and attended as many U of L sporting events as she could until the time of her passing. Cordelia enjoyed attending The Kentucky Derby and all of the Kentucky Derby Festival events, including Thunder over Louisville. In her spare time, Cordelia could be found gardening, spending time with her family whom, she loved dearly and traveling. Cordelia never met a stranger and welcomed anyone to share in her travels with her. Her generosity, kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Cordelia worked as a Sales Correspondent at Louisville Plate Glass for 17 years. Below is what the President of Louisville Plate Glass, Bill Stone had to say about Cordelia’s untimely departure;
“Cordelia was a valuable member of the Louisville Plate Glass Company organization for 17 years. Her devotion to the company set an example to all. She possessed a tireless work ethic, was admired by our customers and loved by administrative and production staff at LPG.”
Cordelia is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Lee Walker, aunt, Joyce Walker and uncle, Edward Walker of Cincinnati, OH, her uncle, Davis Begay of Winslow, AZ, her paternal grandparents; Samuel Begay of Seba Dalkai and Helen Begay of Standing Horse Butte, AZ and fiancé, Tom Clarkson.
Left to cherish Cordelia’s memory is her daughter, Teona Davila (Lazaro). Her love of 10 years, Mark Johnson, father, Robert Henry Begay and step mother, Betty L. Begay of Indian Wells, AZ.
Her siblings; Antoinette J. Ahasteen-Fairey, Melissa J. Alcott, Nathaniel M. Ahasteen, Tasbah N. Blanchard of Indian Wells, AZ and Delbert Walker of Louisville, KY.
Visitation for Cordelia will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven. A celebration of Cordelia’s life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:00am at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218, with interment to follow at 2:00pm at Crown Hill Cemetery, 11825 Pippin Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
