I remember being a young girl 15 or so thinking I wish I had grandparents like them. I was Debbie and Timmy's babysitter for years when the kids were young. Mrs. Bird was everyone's wish for a grandparent.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I remember coming to stay with G-ma and G-pa Bird for half of each summer when I was in elementary school. I loved it when we would sit on the back patio in the evenings and visit with whom ever was there. I always wondered why Grandma seemed to be constantly cleaning the house, and now as an adult my house is kept just as clean, always ready for any guest that my drop by to say hi. Life has been so busy, and I regret that she was never able to meet my family, and that my sons will never get to meet the woman who I am so much like. I will miss her deeply.

My sweet Darlene, I will greatly miss u on Friday afternoons, I loved the talks we always had n always giggled at the things u would say, u were a true lil spitfire of a lady I admired u and always will love always ur hairdresser

Dick and Debbie, you are in my thoughts and prayers.  I enjoyed getting to know Darlene when she came to MN to visit Mike and Judy and the Heino family.  Darlene was such a fun, classy and caring person.  My life was blessed with her laughter, smile and "Hon".  May your fond memories help you through this time and may God grant His healing comfort and peace to you.

Looking at those pictures brings up some very good memories.

I loved how she always called me her number two daughter and sent Christmas cards signed Mom and Pop Bird.She was my Mom in every way that matters.

I will never forget all the times Julie and I would ride our bikes or walk down to grandma Birds for a good snack or just to hang out and watch TV in the backroom.  I know this is silly but she always had perfect hair.  I loved her as if she was my own grandma and she will truely be missed. The family will be in my thoughts, prayers and heart <3

One of my favorite memories. While still a youngster (after starting school) I was bored one day and thought why not play a trick on mom.  So I took a pencil and paper (the elementary school type huge pencil and paper with wide lines) and wrote a note to her from a secret admirer and signed it XXX then folded and left it on her purse where she was sure to find it.  About fifteen years later she asked me to hand her something from her purse and there in the corner of her purse was my note.  I never talked with her about the note after all it was a secret.
