David Scott Delaney “Chief”, beloved husband, father, pop pop, and pepaw, went to be with his Lord on June 5, 2022, at the age of 63. He was born in Louisville and raised in Lexington, Kentucky to Don and the late Norma Delaney. He graduated from Lafayette High School where he was an All-American quarterback. As an adult his passion was to create music.
He was married on January 3, 2004 to Chrystal D. Delaney at Buena Vista Baptist Church and for the last 18 years their home has always been filled with love for each other and anyone that is close to them. He is survived by his two boys Brandon (Katie) and Eric (Jesslyn), his grandchildren, Kelsey, Nick, Jemma, and Jai, and his two dogs, Dakota and Cherokee. He is proceeded by his nephew, Noah Delaney, and his dogs, Ginger and Cheyenne who were waiting to greet him at heaven’s gate.
David spent his life playing and recording music, but his truest loves were his wife, his family and his dogs. David was the rock of the Delaney family, the protector, and the organizer of family events. You could always find him running around the house either preparing meals, working on a project, or just breaking out in song where ever he was, bringing happiness to every who crossed his path.
Playing and singing in Lexington, Kentucky throughout the years allowed David to influence and meet some extraordinary people. However, not everyone can say they were fired from a job for smoking with Willie Nelson, but David could and he was proud of it. He was a producer, a songwriter, a musician, and the very best friend one could ask for. The world will not be the same without his presence!
He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Donnie (Kathi), Dwayne (Cheri), Derron (Amy), Bobby (Martha) and sisters Karen, Johnnie, Debbie, Judy, by his nieces and nephews, Brian (Jen), Roman (Lyndsey), Christopher (Shawnie), Katlyn (Tyler), Mariah (Michael), Nina, Shawn (Kayla), Michael, Ally (Garrett), Luis (Nindik), Logan, Avery, Grace, Jeremiah, Malachi, and Lexie, Brooks, Ava-James, Kyle, Shawn, Kayla, Kyle, Nathaniel, Kameron, Easton, Magnolia, and Lara, Tanner, Lily, Ila, Alayik and extended family and friends.
