

He was a 1967 graduate of Garrard County High School, Lancaster Ky, where he played football and was voted most talented. In his younger years he played baseball and basketball and was a member of the Boy Scouts.
He was very talented with playing different musical instruments, such as, trumpet, piano, guitar, clarinet and saxophone. He started four different rock bands where they played locally. He was also very talented with writing poetry and had a beautiful penmanship. He will be remembered for his love of music and his free spirit.
He traveled across the country hitchhiking and riding his motorcycle. He loved riding his bike. He was considered the first “Hippie” in Garrard County which he was proud of.
He lived in Tennessee for 17 years and then moved back to Louisville where he made his home.
David was a member of East Audubon Baptist Church in Louisville. He loved the Lord and shared with others his love and faith of Jesus Christ. He was very fond of visiting the Louisville Zoo. He never met a stranger and had many friends.
David is survived by his son Joshua (Ashley) McDowell, Ramsey, Illinois. Sister Filicia McDowell Day, nieces Tanya Nicole Rogers, Kristin Day Drury. Two granddaughters Alexis and Jasmine McDowell and a great nephew, Miles Drury, special friend and caretaker Jennifer harper.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday January 25th, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. After the funeral service the burial will be at the Resthaven Cemetery
