David attended public school in Shepherdsville, Ky and graduated from Shepherdsville High School. After attending Western Kentucky University, he was employed by Brown Williamson for ten years and then was employed by the Kentucky State Highway Department of Transportation as an equipment operator for 32 years until he was challenged with cancer and retired.
David was a member of Brooks Baptist Church for 43 years where he served as an usher. The church was founded by his grandfather. David was involved heavily with the business of the church property and was also involved with Celebration Recovery. Even though he struggled with cancer he attended church faithfully every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday without complaints.
He enjoyed playing softball in a recreational league where he was the team pitcher. He was also an original and lifetime member of Family Athletic Club.
On December 25, 2002 he was united in matrimony to Pamela. They shared almost 14 years of blessed unity.
He was a devoted son and father to all his children, never treating his extended family any differently than his own because in his heart they were "all his".
