David Lester Teel

David Lester Teel was born October 14, 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his parents Dr. James Howard Teel and Clara Maxine Teel, his sisters Becky Teel of Louisville, Kathy Zimmerman(Michael), Nashville, Marcia Daoud (Edward), Rockville, Maryland and a brother, Stephen, Germantown, Maryland; a niece, Chelsea Newhall, Washington, D.C. and three nephews, Matt Zimmerman, Blacksburg, Va., Tim Zimmerman, Cookeville, TN. and Mark Daoud, Rockville, Maryland. Also surviving him, his beloved Aunt, Shelby Hamilton (Billy), Uncle Randal & Dodie Teel of Kent, AL, and many cousins in Elmore County and northern Alabama.

A graduate of Waggoner High School, he attended Auburn University and the University of Louisville.

David lived in East Pakistan (now called Bangladesh) as a child with his family. While there he attended Dacca American School in Dacca, Bangladesh.

He will be remembered by his family and friends as one who valiantly fought mental illness all of his adult life and later bladder cancer.

A service to celebrate the life of David will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 1101 Cherokee Road, Louisville, KY 40204, at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 28. Visitation with his family will be after 1:30 PM at church. Graveside services will be held in Kent, Alabama at Bethlehem East Baptist Church on Friday.
