Raised by the late Lillian and Harold Kendrick, Derryl is also preceded in passing by his father Ernest Jewell; and his siblings Dewayne Edwards, Ernest “Hooker” Dale Edwards, and Shelia Nance. He is survived by his adoring wife of 39 years Dana Edwards; his son Derryl Edwards Jr.; step-children Ralph Dicken III, Melissa Dicken; grandchildren Rowan Elizabeth Edwards; step grandchildren Shelby Dicken, Memphis Combs, and Tenley Rogers.
Derryl’s favorite hobbies included being outdoors while hunting and fishing, especially with his family and friends. Something he enjoyed beginning at a young age. He was so passionate about this that he passed it down to his children.
Derryl worked hard his entire life. He retired from Progress Plastics after spending 44 years with them. He then worked at the Village 2 Carwash starting in 2000 to current. Lastly with Kroger starting in 2015 to current.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. A funeral service in Derryl’s honor will begin Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
