Donald Cooper Sr.

Donald Ray Cooper Sr., 69, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019, surrounded by his family after a battle with brain cancer. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00pm, Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY 40213. Friends may call from 2:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, October 8, 2019, and from 9:00am until the time of service on Wednesday. Donald was born July 2, 1950, in Tompkinsville, Ky to Wayne and Martha (Thompson) Cooper. He is retired from Ford Motor Co. where he worked as a millwright. He was a member of the UAW 862 and a proud Kentucky Colonel. His greatest joys came from being around his children and grandchildren, traveling, and sitting on his deck watching the birds and squirrels.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Martha Cooper, his wife Melissa L. Cooper, his brother Craig Cooper, his grandsons Donald Ray III, Raistlin and William and his granddaughter Terra.

Left to mourn him are his daughter Amy Perkins (Todd) of Glasgow, KY, sons Andrew Nally (Danyelle), Donald Ray Cooper II, Terry Cooper and James Cooper (Rebecca) all of Louisville, KY, his brother Gregory Cooper of Glasgow, KY, and 2 sisters Regena Taylor (Troy) of Louisville, KY, and Shirley King (Larry) of Bowling Green, KY, sister-in-law Joan Cooper (surviving spouse of Craig) of Louisville, grandsons Austin Day, Joey Day, Caleb Day, Jacob Perkins, Josiah Perkins, Drew Nally, TJ Cooper, Connor Cooper, granddaughters Jasmin Nally, Brittany Nally, Andrea Nally, Melissa E. Cooper, Alisha Harshfield, Angel Cooper, Cherokee Redmon, and Trinity Cooper, honorary granddaughter Brianna Capell, a handful of nieces and nephews, assistant caregiver Mary Cooper, and his life partner Myra Branch of Bloomington, Indiana.
