Donald Free

Donald Ray Free, 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025. He was born on November 27, 1948, to the late Roy and Estelle Free. Donnie was a proud husband, father, and grandfather and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Okolona Christian Church. Donnie loved music, karaoke, and playing golf. Donnie’s love and kindness will be greatly missed.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; Roy and Estelle Free, and brothers; Roy Free, Jr. and Bill Free.

Left to cherish Donnie’s memory are his wife of 57 “blissful” years; Cheryl Free, children; Stephen Free (Sherry) and Stacey Surbaugh, grandchildren; Jared Free, Hailey Free, Olivia Surbaugh, and Emily Surbaugh, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A visitation for Donnie’s will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 2:00pm-8:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Friday, July 25, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home. A funeral service for Donnie will follow visitation directly at 12:00pm. Donnie will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donnie’s name can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
