Doris Marcella Thomas Shoptaw, better known as Dottye, died on Saturday, September 10, 2016 of natural causes in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky Dottye was born on November 5, 1925 to her parents Lillian and Elzy Thomas. She married the love of her life, John (Jack) Allen Shoptaw on September 4, 1945 and this past week would have been their 71st wedding anniversary.
Dottye is survived by her four children; Jackye McDaniel (John), Deborah Reiss (Steven), Kathy Lincoln (Michael) and John Shoptaw. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly.
A mass of Christian burial to celebrate Dottye’s life will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 4-8 pm on Monday, September 12, 2016
