Dorothy was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 4, 1924 to Cris George and Zella Belle Gastinger. She graduated from University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree and worked for the Kentucky Cabinet of Social Services as a social worker. She was an exceptional seamstress and loved to crochet. She had many creative and artistic abilities and talents. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and going on senior trips with her sister and best friends. We will all miss her sparkling sense of humor and will forever remember the wonderful stories that she loved to share throughout the years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Cris George and Zella Belle Gastinger; her former husband and the father of her 10 children, Raymond Floyd Jones; her brother, Cris Gastinger, Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Harris, Luerline Tipton and Zella Durham; 4 sons, Paul, David, Mark and Timothy Jones; grandson, John Jones; and one great – granddaughter, Kayla Stinnett.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Terry Jones; 5 daughters, Lois (Bill) Sebastian, Linda (Virgil) Newton, Peggy Giles, Nancy Finn, Judy (Todd) Dutton; 2 daughters – in – law, Cecilia Jones and Lynn Guinn; 20 grandchildren, 23 great – grandchildren; 1 brother, James Gastinger; 1 sister, Alberta (Billy) Keith and many – many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the doctors and staff at UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital for the exceptional care they provided during her illness.
