Edgar Thomas McMichael Jr.

Tom a native Kentuckian, was a true horse lover and a Derby fan all the way. He was a member of the Kentucky Colonels, an avid bowler and established The Mill Discount Store Chain that began in Louisville, which he managed until leaving Kentucky in 1973. Tom moved his family to Ft. Walton Beach, FL and became a builder and land developer contributing much to the early design and construction of Active / Passive Solar homes along the Panhandle Coast. He loved to play golf, enjoyed sailing and fishing while living on the coast for over 35 years. In 2008 Tom and his wife Gale moved to Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Thomas Mc Michael Sr. and Mary E. Mc Michael; and brother, Alfred N. Maines.

Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gale L. Mc Michael of Knoxville; son, Gary Mc Michael (Lisa) of Knoxville; daughter, Teri Reeves (Ken) of Ft. Walton Beach; sisters, Jeanine Barton of Louisville and Josephine Nall (Earl) of Radcliff, KY; brother, David Mc Michael (Peggy) of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from noon-2 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218 (502) 491-5950. Funeral service will follow with burial in Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Memorial Park.
