Edward "Mike" Wilson Ferrell

Mike attended Mars Hill College, Campbellsville College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also performed in the Washington DC Opera Chorus under Igor Stravinsky and was a member of the Southern Seminary Chorus. Mike was a board member of the Kentucky Opera Association, sang in the chorus, Minister of Music at Bethany Baptist Church, and served 57 years as Associate Pastor and Minister of Music at Okolona Baptist Church.

His brother John Ferrell preceded Mike in death.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 64 years, Louise Elizabeth Eilertson Ferrell, son, Brian G. Ferrell(Sandra), grandson, Benjamin E. Ferrell(Brittany), great grandson, Asher Michael Ferrell and Wanda L. Ferrell.

Mike was known for his booming and beautiful tenor voice and sang many solo’s throughout his career. He composed an Oratorio, led church performances of “Amahl and the Night Visitors” and “Messiah”, played organ and piano as a soloist. He also loved photography, tennis and public speaking. The family would like to thank all the many compassionate caregivers that gave special care to Mike.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 3-8pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home in Okolona. The funeral service will be Monday at 10am at Okolona Baptist Church, 9301 Preston Hwy. Louisville, KY 40229 with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
