Eleanor Elsie Vogel-Dengler

Eleanor Elsie Vogel-Dengler, 100, passed away November 24, 2021. Eleanor was born on February 2, 1921 in Kankakee, IL to the late Hugo and Elsie Nelson. She was a 1939 graduate of Kankakee High School and went on to graduate from Olivet Nazarene University. Eleanor worked at Kankakee Stove Company and Valparaiso University until she met and married Capt. Herbert P. Vogel, US Chaplain.

After moving to Louisville Kentucky, Eleanor became a realtor with Paul Semonin and Walker Toma agencies and was a co-owner of Jacques Renee Boutique. She was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church and her hobbies were bicycling, reading, walking, boating and gardening.

Along with her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Capt. Herbert P. Vogel. Her second husband Reverend Dr. Donald C. Dengler, step-father William Ramien, sisters Florence Nelson and Bernice Nelson (Ahti) and grandson Jackson Dengler also precede her in death.

Eleanor leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Dennis P. Vogel (Ellen) of Chattanooga, TN and Jeffrey N. Vogel (Deborah) of Lexington, KY, step-sons Donald Dengler Jr. (Rebecca) of Belleville, Il and Matthew Dengler (Char) of Shepherd, MI and brother Harold Nelson of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren Heather McClenahan (Patrick), Meghan Carr (Andrew), Matthew Vogel (Katie) and Andrew Vogel (Alison), step-grandchildren Tristan Dengler, Alyssa Dengler and Zac Montague and great grandchildren Beckett McClenahan, Winnie McClenahan, Jeremiah McClenahan, Sullivan Carr, Eleanor Carr, Barrett Carr, Carter Vogel and Jude Vogel.

A service to honor the life of Eleanor will be held Saturday, December 11th at 3:30pm in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home with a private entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will begin Saturday at 1pm until the start of the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Peace Lutheran Church.
