Elma L. White, a beacon of love and faith, passed away on August 31, 2025. Born on February 20, 1936, in the heart of Liberty, to Howard "Newt" and Vivian Roberts. Elma's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the strength of commitment, and the joy of a life well-lived. She passed away surrounded by the love of her family in Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of warmth that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Martin (Harold), John Roberts, Bill Roberts (Joan), Phyllis Letner, Ronald Roberts and brother-in-law, Buel Lawhorn.
Elma's commitment to her faith was unwavering, as she was a dedicated member of the Eastern Gate Baptist Church and previously, Minors Lane Baptist Church for over five decades. Her Christian beliefs were the compass by which she navigated life, guiding her actions and interactions with a grace that touched all she met.
Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. Elma found joy in the simple pleasures of cooking, where she expressed her love through every savory and sweet creation. Boating and camping were avenues for adventure and family bonding, while bowling nights were filled with laughter and friendly competition. Elma's love for reading the Bible was not only a source of personal solace but also an activity that brought her closer to those she shared it with. Above all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was Elma's most treasured pastime.
Elma's life was one of partnership and devotion, beautifully exemplified by her 67-year marriage to her beloved husband, Don White. Together, they built a foundation of love that extended to their daughter, Teresa Howard, and her husband Bobby, a bond that was both nurturing and enduring. Elma is survived by her siblings, Susan Lawhorn, Clifford Roberts and his wife Janie, Carolyn Preston and her husband Tim, and her sister-in-law, Irene Roberts. Each relationship was cultivated with care, creating a family tapestry rich with shared memories and mutual support.
The joy of Elma's life multiplied with the arrival of each grandchild, Phil Flewwellin and his wife Lindsey, Chris Flewwellin (Christy), and Tony Flewwellin and his wife Lauralee. Her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jazyln, Alleigh, Brayden, Lilly, and Tucker, were the jewels in the crown of her life, each one cherished beyond measure. Elma's legacy is also lovingly remembered by many adored nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
