Louisville - Miller, Ernest Austin, 96, passed away Friday April 13, 2018. Austin was a native of Louisville born May 10, 1921 to the late Ernest and Hattie Miller. Austin proudly served his country in the U. S Army during WWII as dental technician, which became his career in life. He loved dancing with his beautiful wife, was an avid golfer and a talented woodworker. Austin was a longtime member of Woodhaven Country Club and roller-skated at Robben's Roost into his 90's. Austin was full of life and laughter. His smile was infectious. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Austin's wife of 70 years Dorothy "Lu" Miller preceded him in death. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Andra Lubbers (Robert), Ellen McCarthy (Richard), grandchildren Dan Lubbers, Justin McCarthy, and sister Nina Shipp and many dear nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Austin will be held Tuesday April 17th at 10am in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Road with a private burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday April 16th from 3-8pm at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the compassion and love received from the staff at Atria Springdale Assisted Living Facility. They would also like to thank Dr. Jane Cornett and the staff at the Episcopal Church Home for such loving care.
