Esther L. Deloof

She attended Poweshiek County Schools and graduated from Brooklyn High School in Iowa in 1943. Esther taught school in Poweshiek County for 7 years before working at Grinnell General Hospital, from which she retired in 1990. Alongside her husband, August, she farmed in the Poweshiek County area until 1981, after which they moved to Grinnell, Iowa, and eventually to Louisville, Kentucky, in 1994.

Esther was the daughter of Clarence Andrew Hall and Mabel Malinda Monroe Hall. She married August Albert Deloof on August 8, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, August; her parents, Clarence and Mabel Hall; her brothers, Edward and Freeman Hall; and her sisters, Vera Keller and Marjorie Cram.

She is survived by her sons, Donald (Betty) Deloof of Guston, Kentucky, and Richard (Erna) Deloof of Cupertino, California; two grandchildren, Joy (Drew) Barnett and Carl Deloof; and three great-grandchildren, Camden, Austen, and Lucy.

Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services, located at 3601 Taylor Blvd, on January 2, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. The funeral service will follow at the same venue starting at 11:30 am. Committal will take place at Bethany Cemetery on the same day.
