Frank "Pappy" Young, 92 of Louisville, passed away Monday, July 25th 2016. He was born September 12th, 1923, in Southern Indiana. He served his country courageously with the 114th Infantry during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. His accomplishments included fighting on the front line in three major battles and freeing a concentration camp. Shortly after returning he was employed by G.E. where he retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Rita Parish where he served for many years as an usher. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8639. He also served as the Secretary of Men's Friday Night Okolona Bowling League for 35 years. Residents of Okolona will remember him for his home-grown tomatoes. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 70 years, Louise "Peach" Young; his children: Greg Young, Tim Young (Teresa), Tina Hoagland (Paul); grandchildren: Jordan, Samantha, Jessi, Dylan, Sierra. A funeral mass for Frank will be held Friday at 10am at St. Rita Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-8 at Arch L. Heady & Son, 8519 Preston Hwy. Memorial contributions in Frank's memory may be made to the D.A.V.
