

Fred served in United States Navy. He worked for Local 369 Marine Electric, where he retired after 42 years. He was an original member of the Church of the Ascension Catholic Church where he was also a member of the 50's Something Club, and he was a member of the Retirees Club. He was an avid UK fan, Trinity fan and loved horse racing.
He was born July 17, 1930 in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Fred W. Nix, Sr., and Barbara Scheibert Nix.
He is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Marie Nix, siblings: Virginia, Gertrude, George and Joe and a son-in-law, John Martin.
Here to cherish his memory are his children: Fred Nix III (Donna), Karen Martin; grandchildren: Sean Nix (Samantha), Blake Nix (Lauren) and Courtney Morley (Elliot); great grandchildren: Caleb, Kylie, Everett and Grady; along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven funeral home (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218). A memorial service will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that expressions of sympathy be made to the Old Friends Equine or the Trinity High School General Scholarship Fund.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Richwood Nursing and Rehab and Hosparus of Louisville, Lindy, Smurf and Jean, Ramzi, Billy, as well as Keith and Carla Brown.
