

Fred Williams, 89, of Louisville, KY passed away Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born in Columbus, GA as a twin on September 3, 1927 to the late Carrie Vesta (Jones) and Daniel Milton Williams, Sr. He was one of seven children; Daniel Milton Williams, Jr., Kathryn Williams, Evelyn Striplin, Ted Williams, Betty Jo Polson, and Emma Ree Scobie.
Fred served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and worked as an engineer in telecom. A Georgia Tech graduate with an Electrical Engineering degree, he worked for AT&T, BellSouth, and retired from South Central Bell. He was a member of Lyndon Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, Park Avenue Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
He was preceded in death by his son, Fred Williams, Jr. of Macon, GA, his parents, and five of his siblings.
Left behind to cherish Fred’s memory is his loving wife Thelma Chapman Williams; his children, Diane Williams Huff (Phil) of Philpot, KY, Albert “Ted” Williams (Cindy) of Shepherdsville, KY, Larry Allen Williams of Louisville, KY, and Kathryn Williams Brown (Mike) of Finchville, KY; his grandchildren, Dee-Dee Huff, Laurie Huff, Andrea Sinclair (Adrian), Chasity Williams, Alex Brown (Jessica), Katie Brown Casgrain (Chase), and Grant Brown; his great grandchildren, Kaden Barnes, Ashton Webster and Ethan Sinclair; and his sister, Evelyn Striplin.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Arch L. Heady & Son, 7410 Westport Road, from Noon to 4pm, with a funeral service starting at 4pm. Burial will follow on Tuesday, March 14 at Sardis Methodist Church Cemetery, 21 Chestnut Grove Road Shiloh, GA 31826
