Gene Kitts died at his home in Louisville, KY peacefully on April 3, 2016 surrounded by family. He was born September 29, 1938 born in Rittman, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Raymond, his brother James, and child to be adopted, Zachery.
He was a preacher who ministered for 54 years, 28 of which were at Clifton Heights Christian Church. Prior to preaching, he was a singer of Southern Gospel Music and sang with groups such as The Gospelaires, The Waymakers, and The Brotherhood. He spent many years as a traveling evangelist, using his talent of singing to bring the Gospel to many churches.
He married his wife, Linda, January 29, 1960, and had 6 children – Stephen, Mark (DeeDee), Jim, Leah, Jennifer (Chris), and Michael. He is survived by his wife, 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 1 brother, Frank. Gene and his wife were tender hearted and gentle souls who took in over 300 foster children over the past 40 years.
The Visitation will be held Friday, April 8th from 4 – 8 PM and Saturday April 9th, from 10 AM -12 PM at Clifton Heights Christian Church, 622 North Hite Ave, 40206. The Funeral Service will be held immediately after the visitation on Saturday at 12 PM.
