

Gil was a 1954 graduate of Atherton High School, and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was a veteran of The United States Air Force, stationed at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas. He was a retired supervisor from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky.
As an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive shooting and a spirited family game of croquet. He especially enjoyed hunting and trading stories with his buddy Danny Wells and his nephew David.
When he wasn't outdoors, he and his wife spent time playing the guitar and singing country music with friends. They were also known to be quite the accomplished dance partners in their day.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Evelyn (Hild) Emenegger, his brother Donnie Emenegger and son Gary Hutchcraft.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Doris of 61 years, whom he absolutely adored, and daughters Sandy Hutchcraft, Debbie Hutchcraft, Jeanie Emenegger-Wimsatt (Mark), and Kandace Emenegger, all of Louisville. Also surviving is his sister Betty Lee Haueter of Bedford, Indiana; nephews David Haueter (Cheryl) of South Carolina; Rick (Beth) Haueter of Minnesota; niece Barbara Hawkins (Bret) of Indiana, and Don Emenegger of Florida.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers who assisted Gil and extended him their kindness. His final resting place will be Resthaven Memorial Park. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
