Gretchen Hall Ralston

A resident of Jefferson County her entire life, she was reared in the Fern Creek community. She moved to Jeffersontown after her marriage in 2001.

She attended Christian Academy of Louisville and was a 1994 graduate of Fern Creek High School. Gretchen was a member of Fern Creek Christian Church where she served as a vocalist and guitarist in the worship band, and Southeast Christian Church, then the Adventure Christian Church, where she and her husband Todd were active members. She started her public work as a teenager at the YMCA and then Highview Baptist Day Care. After a time at Jefferson Community College, she became an Emergency Medical Technician and was employed first by Yellow Ambulance and then by Jefferson County EMS for several years, where she received commendations for excellent service. She firmly believed her calling in life was to assist in saving lives in emergency situations. Following a severe knee injury, she retired from EMS and then worked for Kort Physical Therapy for a time.

Mrs. Ralston was born October 4, 1975, to Michael and Judy Goatley Hall, currently of Hurstbourne. She is survived by her devoted husband Todd Ralston of Jeffersontown, her parents, and her sister Allison (David) Steineker of Prospect. She dearly loved her four nieces and nephews, Madelyn, Mason James, Micah William, and Melody Carol Steineker. She enjoyed the company of her pets Buddy, Casey and Sunny.

Gretchen had an unbridled love for the hurting and influenced so many people. Although her earthly life has ended, she is now alive forever without the pain this life afforded her. She is deeply loved and will forever be missed in others lives.

A celebration of Gretchen’s life will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 4-8 pm Monday, January 28, 2013 and after 10 am the day of the service.
