

Born on June 4, 1959, to Henry Benedict Lyon, Sr. and Deanna (Terreberry) Lyon, Bennie was a cherished son, brother and uncle.
An alumnus of University of Louisville with a Master's degree, Bennie shared his passion for learning as a respected professor of Political Science. He was a voracious student of history, an avid gardener, and a culinary enthusiast. Asan entrepreneur, Bennie's catering business was more than a profession—it was where he forged lifelong friendships.
A lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Bennie served in many roles including Grand Knight at Assumption Council and District Deputy among others. He developed a sense of adventure by crewing for the K of C Hot Air Balloon team. He extended his commitment to service when he accepted a seat on the Board of Directors of Dismas Charities, through which he touched numerous lives with his compassion and generosity.
He is dearly missed by his beloved mother, Deanna; his three siblings, Denise Silverhorn, Kevin Lyon (Terrell), and Holly Wilkerson (Barry); along with 9 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews who will carry on his spirit of service, learning, and love. His memory will be cherished and honored by all who were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Athanasius, 5915 Outer Loop, Louisville, Kentucky 40219, Friday, January 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Bennie will be laid to rest privately within Resthaven Memorial Park
