

She was born on May 22,1922 to the lates Joseph and Anna Jane Carnes. She was a long-time member of Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church. Hettie loved to watch and attend wrestling matches and later in life you would find her working on puzzles. Hettie never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.
Hettie was preceded in death by her dear twin sister, Nettie Marie Hazelwood; her daughter and son-in-law, Doris Bryant (Buddy); son, Joe Hornback; daughter-in-law, Judy Hornback; and six more siblings, Mary Hazelwood, Jim Carnes, Maggie Strawser, Jessie Carnes, Rachel Shindler, and Travis Carnes.
Left to cherish Hettie’s memory are her children, Martha Sue Guzzardo (Al), Jim Hornback, William Hornback; daughter-in-law, Darleen Hornback; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be Monday, January 19, 2026 from 2pm until 8pm at Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home – Okolona Chapel, 8519 Preston Hwy. 40219. The Funeral Mass will be at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, 4335 Hazelwood Ave, 40215 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 10 am. Burial in Resthaven Memorial Park will immediately follow.
