Bud was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky to Max and Seigel Reed. After graduating from Shawnee High School, he attended Western Kentucky University. Soon thereafter he started working at V.G. Reed & Sons, a printing company founded by his grandparents, V.G. and Roberta Reed Sr. Bud began working as a truck driver for the company but later became an Owner and Sales Manager. He retired in 2011 after serving the company for more than 45 years.
Bud was a family man. He fondly spoke of time spent with his son, Jeff, as he participated in Special Olympics. As an avid University of Louisville fan, Bud was a proud season ticket holder to football and basketball games and loved cheering on the Cards with his family. Throughout his life, he became the biggest (and loudest) cheerleader for all his grandchildren’s activities - from soccer to softball, dance to beauty pageants, football, and everything else in between. He was undoubtedly always their number one fan. Bud was a devoted grandfather who cherished every moment with his grandchildren, always finding joy in their adventures and leaving a legacy of love that will forever be remembered by all.
Bud was intelligent, outspoken, and humble. He was supportive and consistently opened doors to allow others to succeed. Bud always empowered others to follow their dreams, and took care of those around him.
Bud is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 60 years, Phyllis Reed; his daughter, Robynn (Larry) Landherr; his grandchildren, Evan (Chelsea) Landherr, Emily (Lawrence) Ice, Erynn (Zach) Wesolowski, Ethan (Elizabeth) Landherr, Emma (Steven) Ramirez, and Easton Landherr; his great-grandson, Harrison Ice, with more great-grandchildren on the way, and his closest friend, cousin, and business partner, Bobby Reed Sr. He was predeceased by his parents, Max and Seigel Reed; his sister, Doris Patrick, and his son Jeffrey Reed.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40222. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m.
