Hubert “Hugh” Wolff, 82, passed away Dec 7th, 2020 in Louisville surrounded by his family. He was born to parents, Jacques and Denise Wolff in August 1938 in Strasbourg, France. He graduated from Atherton High School in 1955 and went on to the University of Kentucky. He enjoyed a long career in sales and was especially proud of the 34 years he spent in the 100th Division of US Army Reserves.
To say he had a life well lived is quite an understatement. Throughout his life he was always planning for the next exciting adventure, like our Griswold style vacations, sky diving, and trips to the beach. He was life-long lover of nature.
In retirement he somehow tricked his wife, Mary, into scuba diving with sharks and other crazy stunts. When he was home, he loved swimming with friends and family, being the best Poppy to his grandkids and snuggling his pup, Andy. We will miss his corny dad jokes, big hugs, and summer cookouts. We promise to keep his spoiled squirrel friends in the life to which they had grown accustomed. If I’m being honest, we probably won’t miss his big stash of stinky cheese, sardines, or anchovies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Mary Wolff; his children, Erik Wolff (Jason), Michelle Zangari (John); grandsons, Vin and Jack Zangari; sister-in-Law, Betty Wolff; Mary’s children, Frank DeTalente (Robin), Travis DeTalente (Marsha), Laura Sander (Mark), and Tony DeTalente (Michelle); as well as their children.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Wolff; son, Kevin Wolff; brother, Francis Wolff; and stepson, Joey DeTalente.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
Hugh will be cremated and A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
