She was a retired Teachers Aide with JCPS. Ida was an active member of Watkins United Methodist Church for the past 32 years and was a member of the Highlands Lions Club along with being a former member of the Lyndon Lions Club where she had served as past Secretary/Treasurer. She donated many hours doing eye screenings for pre-school children over the years. Ida was the Matriarch of her family and always put the needs of others before her own.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 59 years, Richard Bernard; 3 children, James C. Bernard (Shawn), Rose M. Maggard (Jeff) and Sherri L. Pack (Scott); sister, Joan E. Reeves; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Ida will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Watkins United Methodist Church, 9800 Westport Road. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village and after 9:00 a.m. on Friday at church.
