

Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather: James Edward "Jim" Burke passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 82 years of age. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Nora Burke; his siblings, Mary Rose, Gladys "Tootsie", Aileen, Chester Junior, Delbert and Bill; and his son Jerry Noel Burke.
Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 46 years Jewell Burke "Julie"; his children Jamie Burke (Sheena), Susan O'Neal (Mike), and Anastasia Lohnes (Jeff); his brother Keith Burke and his sister Claudia Lynch; and many loved and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim was born on March 29th, 1943 in Corbin, Kentucky. He had a long successful career with the General Electric Company and retired after 35 years. He was a faithful Christian man, a member of Southeast Christian Church, Jim followed his belief in Christ by providing a helpful, caring hand and smile to all he knew.
He was a volunteer coach for baseball and football for many years, loved to go hunting and fishing. He shared his love of fishing with everyone, teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their friends how to catch "a good one."
He was a true blue sports fan of his UK wildcats, always ready to talk about the latest game and players. He loved all kinds of music and loved to dance. He stayed active his entire life and especially enjoyed hiking the trails with his loving wife Julie and enjoying the nature of Bernheim forest. Jim walked in his neighborhood daily in his retirement, he looked forward every day to his talks with his neighbors and friends along the way.
He and his wife Julie enjoyed taking trips to the beach, the smokey mountains and visiting their families in Corbin and London, KY.
He took great joy spending time with his family. His love for his wife was never ending, he was her best friend and hero. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was so proud of each and every one of them.
Visitation will be 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY. A brief service will begin at approximately 1:30pm. Jim will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
