James William Sweeney Jr.

James William Sweeney, Jr. was born on February 6, 1943 in Louisville to the late James W. Sweeney, Sr., and Grace (Windell) Sweeney, and passed from this life on March 29, 2018. Mr. Sweeney was retired from the Ford Motor Co. where he worked for 30 years and was a member of Valley View Church where he was very active in the Helping Hands Ministry. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Sharon Sue Sweeney. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jimmy Sweeney (Leigh); step daughters, Tammy Riggs and Karen Cooper; a brother, Norman Sweeney (Beth); a sister, Jean Pierce; and 3 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Sweeney will be held at noon on Wednesday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with interment to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Tuesday. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
