

Born December 16, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jean was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Winnie Fleischer.
Jean was a 1958 graduate of Southern High School in Louisville and a 1962 graduate of the University of Louisville. He worked as a research chemist at Tennessee Eastman Chemical Company for thirty-nine years and post-retirement at BAE Systems.
A connoisseur of classical music, Jean sang tenor in the Kingsport Symphony Chorus for many years and was a volunteer church organist at Concordia Lutheran Church for over sixty years. Jean also hosted “Rare Gems,” a classical music radio program on local public radio station WCSK that featured works by lesser-known composers and less familiar works by more popular composers.
He enjoyed horticulture, especially the cultivation of hostas and daylilies. Jean volunteered with Holston Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. He also served as a Deacon and Elder in his church.
Those left to cherish Jean’s memory include his loving wife of sixty-two years, Sharon, sons Morris (Marcie) of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Clayton (Stephanie) of Louisville, Kentucky; and grandchildren, Matthew (Kara), Melanie, Jonas, and Celeste.
A memorial service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, 725 Truxton Drive, in Kingsport at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 with a visitation to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
Interment will be in the family plot at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Holston Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels of Kingsport, or Concordia Lutheran Church.
The care of Jean C. Fleischer and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
