

JoAnn McGraw McCord, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on February 20, 1940, to the late Thomas McGraw Sr. and Mary Katherine McGraw, JoAnn's journey was one marked by strength, perseverance, and the joy of simple pleasures.
A proud veteran of the Marine Corps, JoAnn exemplified the values of honor and commitment throughout her life. After serving her country, she continued to impact lives as a dedicated educator, working in the Jefferson County Public School system. Although brief she made lasting impacts.
JoAnn's passion for learning was paralleled by her love for the University of Kentucky sports. Her spirited enthusiasm could be felt whether she was cheering from the stands or watching a game surrounded by friends and family. Her bold spirit also found expression in her love of travel, exploring new places, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
An avid golfer, JoAnn, was a familiar face at the Hunting Creek Country Club, where her competitive yet gracious presence on the green was always welcomed. Her interesting and engaging personality made her a beloved member of the community, and stories of her past were a source of joy and humor to all who knew her.
JoAnn's green thumb brought beauty to the world, her gardens a testament to her patience and care. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry McCord Jr.; father, Thomas McGraw Sr.; her mother, Mary Katherine McGraw; her brother, Thomas McGraw Jr.; her son, James Stone; and her son-in-law, David Tabor. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in her son, Jeffrey Stone (Xin); her daughter, Joey Tabor; her daughter-in-law, Carla Stone; and her cherished grandchildren, Josh, Wil, Robby, Tadaaki, and Kelsey.
JoAnn's life was a tapestry of meaningful connections, lifelong learning, and the pursuit of joy in every moment. Her interesting conversations, spirited laughter, and humor will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
A memorial visitation for JoAnn will take place on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 11am-2pm at Arch L Heady & Son Westport Village 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, KY 40222.
In leu of flowers donations in JoAnn’s memory can be made to Disabled American Veterans and the Masonic home in Louisville, KY.
