

She was born on January 20, 1930, in Scottsville, Kentucky to the late Earl and Ruby Barger.
Joetta was known as mom and JoJo; she was one in a million and she never met a stranger. She was full of stories, words of wisdom, and always the life of the party. JoJo was a woman of fashion and had an eye for the best bargain.
JoJo retired from Macy’s where she was a sales associate. She worked until she was 80 years old. She was a wonderful teacher at Keneseth Israel for young children. She pursued her degree in nursing but was detoured when she contracted polio in her pursuit.
Joetta was preceded in death by her husband William E. Distler Sr., her daughter, Janet Lynn Distler, her siblings Jackie Oaks and Harold Barger, brother’s- in-law, James C. Distler and Bill Oaks, along with her nephew Brent Oaks.
Left to cherish in her memory are her children, William E. Distler Jr., Scott Allen Distler, and Jill Collins (Mark). She was blessed with six grandchildren: Ali Denbow (Michael), Zack Distler, Chase Collins (Amanda), Jackie Wheeler (Matt), Brittany Gibbs (Lee), and Taylor Distler. She was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Martha Oaks.
JoJo was a loving support to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. She loved all those she touched throughout her life.
A visitation for Joetta will be held Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. A funeral service will occur Monday, February 3, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven. An on-site reception will directly follow the funeral service.
