Johnny went to be with the company of the just made perfect and into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on 8/29/24. He passed on his birthday at the age of 86. He was born and raised in Louisville, KY. He was raised by his Christian aunt and converted to the cause of Christ in his early years. He graduated from Valley High School. He was an Army Veteran and was in training during the Cuban Missile Crisis during the fall of 1962. Upon an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he became a hardworking man who held multiple positions but ultimately retired from Standard Gravure. He attended the University of Louisville, but was a self taught man who was well read and learned and practiced a number of crafts and skills. He would become an accomplished handyman and gardener. He was happily and joyfully married to Wanda (Lay) for almost 65 years. He loved his two daughters, Cindy (Whiteley) and Susan (Gilmore) and was a devoted grandfather to Rachel Whiteley, Elizabeth Henderson, Benjamin Whiteley, Lydia Paller, Rebekah Whiteley, Anna Whiteley, Emily Nixon, and Sarah Nixon. He was also a favorite of his great grandchildren, Harper Whiteley, Georgette Whiteley, Luke Whiteley, and Josef Paller. He delighted in the fellowship and service of his small group bible study and the Peacemakers Sunday school class at Southeast Christian Church. He will be greatly missed but his legacy of quiet, hard-working, integrity, and loyalty will be modeled and remembered, by not only his family, but his friends and neighbors.
