John Paul Spear Jr.

Spear, Jr, John Paul, 94, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. He was a WWII Army veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Highview Baptist Church, and retired after 35 years of service from Naval Ordnance. John was a long time member of the NRA and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Spear; parents, John Paul and Fannie B Spear; grandchildren, Derrick James Dodson, Jeremy G. Spear, and Wendy R. Evans; brothers, Charles A and Donald R Spear.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Connie Dodson Drake (Bill), Delbert G. Spear (Janet), Pamela J. McAlister (Tommy), and Judy Spear Pharris Hoyer (Greg); grandchildren, Mike (Shelly), Shannon (Peter), Danny Jr. (Amanda), Del Jr., Samantha, and Ben; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gerald Spear (Mamie), Betty Moody (John), Joyce Spear; sisters-in-law, Martha Thurman, Mary Lou Spear, and Violet Spear; many loving nephews and nieces; and his beloved cats, Kitty and Kitten.

His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Okolona. Burial is at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 11 am until service time. The family requests all visitors wear a mask while in the funeral home.
