

Jack was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 10, 1932. He was a graduate of Flaget High School and a Navy Veteran. He was a faithful member of St. John Paul II Parish. Jack enjoyed a good ball game (especially if it was the Kentucky Wildcats), his beloved pets, but more than anything Jack loved spending time with his family. He was known for his devoted faith, quick wit and sense of humor, selflessness, and generosity.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Betty Tompkins, son John Tompkins, parents, William and Jesse Tompkins, and four siblings. Jack is survived by his children Geralyn Groves (Coleman) and Paul Tompkins, grandchildren Emory Mize (Tyler) and Arden Cannon (Chase), and his great grandchildren, Benjamin Mize and Eleanor Mize.
Jack will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, man of faith, and a friend to all those who were lucky enough to know him.
Visitation will occur on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218, from 4:00PM-8:00PM.
Mass will begin at 10:00AM at on Friday, November 11, 2022 St. John Paul II, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, Louisville, KY 40220.
Jack will be laid to rest within Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218.
