

He was born June 27, 1953, in Louisville, KY, the son of Stanley E Wilson, Sr and Phyllis (Hauck) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Wilson, Sr, and his wife of 47 years, Joyce Wilson.
John worked as a carpenter most of his life, also at Perry Park golf course and later went on to drive a school bus. He was a United States Navy veteran and a member of Valley Christian Church of Carrollton and the American Legion.
John was a super salesman, a craftsman, an avid golfer, and a fisherman. He loved to travel and had a great life for the most part. He loved his family and friends, including lifelong friends, Mark Metzger and Rick Booth. He was a gentleman, of generosity, of thought, open to listen, with a clear sense of humor.
John loved God with all his heart and was described as Joyful, Optimistic, Honest and Noble.
Survivors include his stepchildren, Rene Tewell (Ray) and Russell Gillum; two grandchildren, Michelle Mitchell and Brandi Bruce (Breeze); three great-grandchildren, Brodey Smith, Jaycee Mitchell and Ella Mitchell; nine siblings, Suzanne Seeger, Stanley Wilson, Jr (Barbara), Barbara Wilson, Steven Wilson, Karen Hughes (Jim), Mary Blackwell, William Wilson, Melissa Wilson and Christopher Wilson; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4 ESV
John’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Valley Christian Church of Carrollton, 817 11th Street, Carrollton, KY 41008. Visitation will take place at 2:00 PM, service at 3:00 PM, with meal to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of John may be made to a Veterans Organization of your choice.
