A short two months after Evelyn lost her beloved husband of 69 years, Joe, she has now joined him to be together for eternity.
Joseph R. Edelen: January 13, 1931- July 13,2024
Evelyn S. Edelen: February 26, 1932- September 13, 2024
Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, enlisting in 1953 and serving for two years. Upon returning to Springfield, it wasn't long before he found Evelyn, asked for her hand in marriage, and they began their beautiful life together.
Joe and Evelyn were blessed with five children of their own, who gave them 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Together, they built a rich and fulfilling life through Joe's 34 year career at General Electric and their shared success as real estate agents. Evelyn often said with a smile, "We worked eight days a week!"
In their later years, Joe and Evelyn enjoyed retirement in Florida, surrounded by the warmth of their daughter and the life they built together.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters: Betty Blair, Jane Thompson, Gerry Keysor, Rita Harrod, and Marg O'Bryan. Joe is survived by his sister, Mary Jo Hamilton.
Together, Joe and Evelyn are survived by their four children: Gary Edelen, Kay Riordan, Susan Glasscock, and Chris Edelen. They were predeceased by their son, Bill Edelen.
A joint service for both Joe and Evelyn will be held Saturday, September 21st at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, Kentucky 40218. Visitation begins at 10 AM followed by service at 11AM and reception thereafter. All are welcome.
The family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation, in lieu of flowers, in honor of Evelyn and everyone affected by this disease.
