Joyce Yvonne Mills, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was born on September 10, 1938, in Guthrie, KY, to the late Leon Heggie and Nell Davidson. Yvonne was a member of Foster Avenue Baptist Church. She loved gardening, crocheting, reading, and watching westerns.
Joyce is also preceded in death by her husband, William “Tom” Mills; Baby Tommy Mills; son-in-law, Danny Smith; sisters, Lattie Smith, June Coons, Patsy Brotzge, Wanda Gay Heggie, and Laverne Crouch; and brother, W.L. Heggie.
Left to cherish Joyce’s memory are her children, Yolanda Barnes, Yvonne "Hope" Smith (Danny) and Ricky Mills, Sr. (Cheryl); brother, Niles Heggie (Rita); five grandchildren, Christy Applegate (Chad), Charity Brown (Quinton), Ricky Mills, Jr., Brian Mills (Genevieve), and Taricka Mills (Tyler); and eleven great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A visitation for Joyce will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1:00pm-7:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Sunday November 9, 2025, from 9:30am-11:00am, with a funeral to follow directly at 11:00am. Joyce will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
